The Milpitas Rotary Club continues its tradition of hosting informative and interesting speakers. Recent presenters have included Deputy District Attorney Julia Alloggiamento, who spoke about the process it takes to campaign for an elective judgeship.
Alloggiamento has more than 23 years experience as an attorney and 10 years as a court-appointed arbitrator and volunteer fee arbitrator. She is also a former Army Ranger leader, and a decorated combat veteran (Bronze Star for Heroism and Purple Heart).
Elected to serve as a Santa Clara County Superior Court Judge in June, Alloggiamento’s investiture to the bench will take place in January.
Rotary District 5170 Governor Roger Hassler and his wife Angie were also welcomed guests. A native Californian, Roger Hassler was raised in El Monte, 19 miles east of Los Angeles. After graduation from high school, he joined the U.S Air Force serving for four years, the last year in Viet Nam. Upon discharge he continued his education and graduated with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Accounting from California State College Los Angeles.
In January of 1990 Almaden Valley Club President Jim Dowling recruited Roger to Rotary. He has since served on almost every board position for his club and was President from December 1996 to June 1998. He has been named Rotarian of the Year twice by his club, once sharing the honor with Angie, the second time on his own.
