The Milpitas Community Concert Band will open its summer with a show at the Community Center tonight at 7:30. Admission is free (a $2 donation is suggested) and it's sure to please the entire family.

The band is now in its 17th year. According to its MySpace page: "We are a true community band. We have young musicians who are in school and still learning to master their instruments and retirees who are lending their seasoned musical skills and talents. We have members who have played professionally and members who have been playing for 2 to3 years. And we have members who played in high school or college and then took a break and are just picking up their instruments after 10, 20, or 30 years.

We perform 5 to 7 times a year. We rehearse at the Milpitas Community Center on Wednesday nights, 7 to 9 p.m., September through June."
