Milpitas Mayor Bob Livengood this evening will present the annual State of the Community Address, with particular emphasis on volunteers who have made an impact on life in Milpitas.

"I'm trying to boost volunteerism," Livengood said in a recent newspaper article previewing his address. "Highlighting the work that they do, people might say ‘Let's see what we can do too.' I think the best way to promote volunteerism is to show the good work that's being done.”

The evening will also feature honors for five stalwart community volunteers: Cliff Williams, Robert Jung, Ileah Crawford, Frank De Smidt and Matthew Keefer.

The event will be held at 5:30 p.m. today, April 21, in the Milpitas City Hall Council Chambers at 455 E. Calaveras Blvd.
