Milpitas Rotarian Meg Taylor, (shown here with Acting President Colleen Noll, left, and Rotary Program Chair Deepka Lalwani) spoke to fellow members about the Lending Promise, Microcredit program during a recent slide show and presentation.

The non-profit organization provides small loans – typically $50 or less – to struggling mothers in Nepal and Indonesia who are too poor to qualify for a bank loan.

With the loans, the women are able to buy resources to start their own businesses, such as animals for a farm, seeds for crops or fabric for handcrafts.

Lending Promise also provides literacy training and small business counseling to ensure they have the tools they need to ensure success.
